As part of its new nomenclature change, Mercedes Benz will be
launching the new GLE in India on October 14. The GLE is essentially a
face lifted version of the outgoing M Class of Benz vehicles. The GLE
will be a direct replacement for the M Class.
The GLE will come to
India with two CDI engine options, a 2.1-litre motor capable of making
204PS of power and a bigger and more powerful 3.0-litre V6 that makes
258PS of power. The car has petrol and hybrid versions in the
international car markets but India is only set to get the diesel
variant of the car.
The major competitors for the new
GLE will be Volvo XC90, Audi Q7 and BMW X5 in the Indian automobile
market. The car will be manufactured at Chakan where the Mercedes plant
in India is.
