If you would rather blend on a smoky eye while watching a YouTube video of the look than cook along to the latest episode of
The Rachael Ray Show,
Sephora's
newest concept store is about to make your heart sing. In a move that
just might shift the trendiest online tutorials to IRL status, the
Sephora Beauty TIP Workshop—short for teach, inspire, and play—promises
to school users on the hottest techniques with in-store makeup classes
that feature a completely interactive setup. The workshop, which is
already set up at Sephora's 33 Powell Street outpost in San Francisco,
has a series of 12 iPad-equipped stations at the very center of the
floor so users can work as they watch the how-to videos.
The retailer
plans to host classes during both during regular hours and after closing
time.Beauty buffs will also be able to peruse Sephora's virtual try-on tools,
such as their contouring app that maps out the exact areas of your face
that should be highlighted or shaded. From there, you'll be able to
find and purchase your perfect shades through the Sephora + Pantone
Color IQ tool. A four-seat skincare studio, equipped with a sink setup,
is included in the layout to help educate consumers on the right
products and techniques to address their concerns, and plans are
underway to incorporate a hair studio into the mix. If you're in the San
Francisco area, head over to the store's 33 Powell St. location to
play, and for those of you in Boston, expect to see the Sephora Beauty
TIP Workshop land at the Prudential Center in Boston. In the meantime,
the rest of us will be not-so-patiently waiting for one to open in an
area nearby ...
