Winner of the
first ever toddler talent competition in Nigeria, brought to you by Cussons
Baby, makers of premium baby care products, finally emerged at a grand finale
which was held Saturday, January 9 at Planet One, Maryland in Lagos.
Coming first out
of the 20 finalists was Imisioluwa Oladapo, who wowed the audience, as well as
the judges, with a breath taking performance that included miming beautifully
to a voice over she recorded herself and other songs. She also exhibited an
unusual patriotism, as she represented the Nigerian flag colours with her
costume and props which certainly got the hearts of the judges. Imisioluwa
Oladapo carted away the 1 million naira educational grant grand prize as well
as a year’s supply of Cussons Baby Products.

Toddler Grow and Shine, is one of the two competitions under the Cussons Baby
Moments 3 platform; the other being the Baby of the Year (photo) contest. The Toddler
talent contest officially kicked off in November 2015 and had an entry of over200
children.
Addressing the audience, a Brand Manager,
Family Care of Cussons Baby Nigeria, Oluwaseun Ayeni said “Cussons Baby
believes that all babies are uniquely gifted, and this year, a new category was
added to the competition to give toddlers between the ages of 2 and 5 years the
opportunity to share their amazing talents.”
In second position was Peter Hayble, who
thrilled the audience with a piano performance of three different songs, he won
a N250,000 education grant. Dancing her way to the third position was Amarachi Akujobi, who also won an education grant worth
N150,000. Both 1st and 2nd runner up also got a shopping
voucher and a year’s supply of Cussons Baby products.

All the contestants were great on stage, as
they entertained the audience and judges with various performances that ranged
from dancing, to singing, violin performance and modelling. The fourth
contestants to the 20th were each given consolatory shopping vouchers, as well
as Cussons Baby products.
Our team of celebrity judges, MI, WAJE and
Chidinma, said over the course of pruning the contestants, they had lots of fun
with the children and most were very talented indeed but “we had no choice but
to arrive at the final 20,” said WAJE.
Addressing parents, MI urged them to “endeavour to spend more time with
your children and get close to them, this way, you can discover their talents
and help them groom it from a very young age.” He added that the winner was
arrived at, based on her confidence, creativity and overall performance.
It was a colourful and lovely event, as everybody
had lots of fun, from the dance competitions, to contestants and their parents
having lots of food, drinks, goodies and gifts to go home with. Mrs Yinka Olukuga
Ademo the MC, popularly known as Nnenna from the ‘Nnenna and Friends’ tv show
ensured the guests had a wonderful and fun time at the event.
The Cussons Baby of the Year contest for ages 0-3 years is still on, up
until 31st January, 2016. The grand finale will be coming up soon
