The Supreme
Court has sacked the two remaining senators representing Anambra senatorial
zones in the National Assembly. An Appeal court had earlier in December, sacked
Senator Uche Ekwunife, representing Anambra Central Senatorial district. All
the senators from Anambra State, including Ekwunife, were elected on the
platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. Those sacked on Friday by the Supreme
Court are the Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Stella
Oduah and her counterpart representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Andy
Ubah.
While Chris
Uba, younger brother to Andy Uba, will take over the seat vacated by Uba,
Prince Emeka takes over that vacated by Stella Oduah. Friday's ruling by the
Supreme Court upheld an earlier decision by Justice Chukwu of the Federal High
Court which in December, 2014 ruled that it was only the constitutionally
recognized state party leadership led by Ejike Oguebego that could organize the
party primaries.
