An Egor Chief Magistrates’ Court in
Benin, Edo State, has sentenced one Lucky Idahosa to 14 years’
imprisonment for raping his 17-year-old daughter for alleged money
ritual.
Earlier, Idahosa had been arraigned on one count of rape.
Ogiehon also told the court that the
offence contravened Section 358 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 48, Vol. II,
Law of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria, 1976, as applicable in Edo
State.
The victim informed the court that her father made her unconscious before committing the crime.
She added that her father threatened to deal with her if she told anyone about the rape.
Idahosa pleaded guilty to the offence, saying he was under pressure to rape his daughter for money ritual.
However, the presiding Chief Magistrate,
Mrs. Igho Braimah, frowned at his claim and thereafter sentenced him to
14 years’ imprisonment without an option of fine.
